VALLEY OF OROSI
Southeast of Cartago, just past Paraiso, lies the beautiful valley of Orosi. The area was already popular with the Spaniards, the Franciscans built a church in the village of Orosi in 1743, which is still in use. Adjacent is a small museum. At the viewpoint near the village you have a beautiful view over the coffee valley. You can drive around the reservoir. When you are back on the route to Paraiso you will pass the village of Ujarras. Here, on a paved road to the left, is a ruined 17th century church, Nuestra Señora de La Limpia Conception, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. The ruin is located in the middle of a chayote plantation and is surrounded by a flower garden, which is especially popular with Costa Ricans during the weekend for picnics.
